Austin Texas Lithic Arts & Technology League
The ATLATL is a shamanistic collaboration formed to address interests in physics, history,
anthropology, hunting, and
martial arts.

Vision

We envision the future of technology as a combination of ancient arts and continued
innovations.  Ancient solutions have the potential to be relevant in the future.

Philosophy

  • We believe that stone-age technology could be useful at some point in the future.

  • We believe that learning can be fun.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to study ancient technologies (including the atlatl weapon system) in order to
benefit modern humans.

One objective is to study the effectiveness of "primitive" technologies and
to learn about these technologies through direct experiences, such as:

  • Networking with other atlatl associations
(and establishing a Texas Atlatl Association by 2010).

  • Hunting non-game animals with the atlatl.

  • Organizing atlatl accuracy contests
(placing high at the WAA Annual accuracy contest in 2009).

Another objective is to share ancient knowledge with others. Goals include:

  • To legalize hunting game animals with the atlatl in Texas by 2012. Legalize it!

  • To offer guided hunts using stone-age weapons.

  • To produce articles, books, videos, and other educational materials.

  • To produce blue-prints of effective stone-age technologies,
in formats designed to last indefinitely.

Funding

ATLATL is primarily self-funded and is in not oriented toward generating a profit.
